Wyoming National Currency Bank Note Information
Wyoming had 51 national currency issuing charters in 31 towns. There are 1478 Wyoming national bank notes known, ranking it the 9th scarcest state. There are four charters where bank notes are unknown. Wyoming's has some of the best national bank titles in the hobby. Wyoming national currency is always in demand! For example: Meeteetse, Sundance, Thermopolis, Shoshoni.
Wyoming National Currency Bank Note Issuing Banks

• First National Bank of Buffalo, Wyoming

  Chartered in 1885 this bank issued territorial brownbacks, red seals, blue seals and small sized brownseals.
  This is a one of the best city names on a bank note. The very title is evocative of the wild west.
  This charter is not uncommon as a state issue but there are no territorial notes known.
  

• First National Bank of Cheyenne, Wyoming

  Chartered in 1871 this was the first national bank in Wyoming.
  There are two territorial notes know on the charter, both series 1875. A $5.00 and a $20.00.
  This charter is not uncommon as a state issue but there are no territorial notes known.
  

• Stockgrowers National Bank of Cheyenne, Wyoming

  Chartered in 1882 this bank issued series 1875 notes in territorial form and state form.
  Additionally they issued all forms of series 1882 notes and 1902 plainbacks.
  This is the most common large sized charter in the state of Wyoming.
  

• Cheyenne, National Bank of Cheyenne, Wyoming

  This bank was chartered in 1885 and lasted nearly until 1892.
  They issued $10 and $20.00 brownbacks in state and territorial form.
  There are no notes known from this charter.
  

• First National Bank of Cody, Wyoming

  The town of Cody was founded in 1896 by Buffalo Bill Cody along with some investors.
  The charter issued red seals, blue seals and small sized brown seals.
  There are no red seals known on the bank but the bank is relatively easy to find in small size.
  

• Shoshone National Bank of Cody, Wyoming

  One of the best titles in Wyoming. Indian tribe, the wild west, a famous pioneer. Hard to beat!
  The charter issued red seals, blue seals and small sized brown seals.
  There are no red seals known on the bank. A red seal note from here would be a nice find!
  

• First National Bank of Douglas, Wyoming

  This bank was chartered in 1886 and lasted until 1923.
  The bank issued territorial and state brownbacks, red seals and blue seals.
  A territorial note from this bank would be a wonderment.
  

• First National Bank of Evanston, Wyoming

  This bank was chartered in 1907 and issued until closing in 1935.
  The bank issued red seals, blue seals and small sized brown seals.
  This bank is common in small sized but a large note is a better note.
  

• Evanston National Bank of Evanston, Wyoming

  This bank was chartered in 1907 and issued until closing in 1935 (Evanston must have been pretty stable)
  The bank issued red seals, blue seals and small sized brown seals.
  A red seal is known on this bank but it hasn't been seen for twenty years.
  

• First National Bank of Guernsey, Wyoming

  This bank opened in 1900 and lasted almost exactly one year.
  It issued less than 800 sheets of brownbacks, none of which are known today.
  

• Wyoming National Bank of Laramie City, Wyoming

  Lasting from 1873 to 1895 this bank issued territorial and state notes.
  This is the only bank in Wyoming to issue $1.00 and $2.00 notes. Three of which are known today.
  Bucking the trend, this bank is more common in the territorial version than other wise.
  

• Laramie National Bank of Laramie City, Wyoming

  In business from 1881 to 1895 this bank issued territorial and state notes.
  They issued only series 1875 notes in the $10 and $20 denomination.
  This is a tough charter to find, a note from here would be big news to a Wyoming collector.
  

• First National Bank of Lusk, Wyoming

  Operating a mere 5 years between 1919 and 1924 this bank only issued blue seals.
  This is a tough bank to find but given their issuance it would seem likely that there are notes to be found.
  

• First National Bank of Manville, Wyoming

  Another shortlived bank lasting from 1919 to 1923 and only issuing blue seals.
  This bank is even tougher to find than Lusk but understandably so, since they issued 1/3rd the notes.
  

• First National Bank of Meeteetse, Wyoming

  A fantastic title on this bank that lasted from 1902 through 1935.
  This bank is more common in large sized than small sized but tough to find in red.
  Wiki nugget: Meeteetse, where the last known wild population of black-footed ferrets was discovered in 1981. :-)
  Also, Meeteetse is known for it's 4th of July rodeo. One of the best!

• First National Bank of Newcastle, Wyoming

  Operating for twenty years between 1904 and 1924.
  This charter issued red seals and blue seals.
  

• First National Bank of Rawlins, Wyoming

  This long lived bank ran from 1890 to 1935
  They issued brownbacks in state and territorial form. Blue seals and small sized brownseals.
  This bank is pretty common except in territorial form where a solitary #1 exists.
  

• First National Bank of Rock River, Wyoming

  This is a neat title that is a tough to find, probably because they lasted only 4 years from 1919 to 1923.
  Issued only blue seals with only one known.
  

• First National Bank of Rock Springs, Wyoming

  This bank was chartered in 1888 and lasted until 1927.
  They issued brownbacks in state and territorial form.
  Notes are common enough as a state issue but a territorial note would be a discovery
  

• First National Bank of Saratoga, Wyoming

  A tiny bank in business for only 3 years between 1907 and 1910.
  Issued red seals and dateback but in minuscule numbers.
  An uncut sheet of red seals is known on the bank, sadly for collectors it's in the ANA museum.
  

• Sheridan, National Bank of Sheridan, Wyoming

  Cruising along for 22 years between 1906 and 1928 this bank issued read seals and both kinds of blue seals.
  The bank is available as a blue seal but unknown as a red seal. Would be a nice note!.
  

• First National Bank of Shoshoni, Wyoming

  From 1905 through 1924 this bank operated, printing red seals and blue seals.
  A solitary red seal is known on this bank. Another one would be nice to discover!
  

• First National Bank of Shoshoni, Wyoming

• Wind River National Bank of Shoshoni, Wyoming

  This is and the following bank are the two best titles on the state, no doubt.
  In operation for about 2 years from 1906 to 1908 this bank only issued red seals.
  The issue was so tiny that we might never see a note from this bank.

• First National Bank of Sundance, Wyoming

  A wonderful title and a tough charter...
  This bank operated for only 3 years between 1890 and 1893.
  They issued only $5.00 brownbacks in territorial and state form.
  A note from this bank would be a major find and would be the cornerstone of great collection.
  

• First National Bank of Torrington, Wyoming

  In business for about 16 years between 1908 and 1924.
  This bank only issued blue seals but few are known today.
  

• First National Bank of Wheatland, Wyoming

  In business for a little over a year between 1906 and 1908.
  Issuing less than 800 sheets of $10's and $20's this bank was tiny.
  A note from this charter would be a sweet find!
  

• First National Bank of Worland, Wyoming

  Humming along from 1906 through 1924 this bank issued red seals and blue seals.
  There are two serial #1 notes known on this bankA note from this charter would be a sweet find!
