The original bank is under a reservoir with the rest of the old townsite. The entire city was moved in 1925.
Bank notes from this charter are not uncommon but still nice to see.

Ashton is a tiny little town, tucked up close to Yellowstone and Montana.

This is the only bank in Idaho to have preceeded the national banking era. They issued their own (obsolete) notes.
This is also the only bank in Idaho that issued $1.00 and $2.00 bills.
(only a single $2.00 is known and it was probably saved because it had serial #2)
Notes from this bank are pretty common but can be pretty valuable if the note is a territorial note.

This bank operated from 1909 to 1917 but since the town was so tiny and it's currency needs limited,
They only issued a little over 800 sheets. Because of that, notes on this bank are very scarce.
I would love to have one since my family has roots there.
In Challis, my great-grandfather Grover Crocker shot at a rat in his barn one day. The shot hit some blasting
caps (he was a miner) and blew the barn up.

This bank started up in 1903 and lasted until 1915 when it was acquired by the Exchange National Bank.
They issued red seals and blu seals. Sadly there are no notes with this title known.

In 1915 they assumed the circulation of the FNB in Coeur D'Alene which is probably why those notes are so scarce.

The bank isn't tremendously rare but a red seal on this bank is a cool note and one I would love to own!

In business from 1912 to 1929, the bank issued blue seals and small sized brown seals.
The cashier Carlos Driggs saved the #1 and #2 note in the family where the #1 still remains.
I am told Mr. Driggs advised the family not to ever sell the #1 note. I sure wish they would. :-)

This tough bank was in business from 1919 to 1927 when it went in to bankruptcy.
The bank only issued blue seals and not a large amount of those.
There is only one note on known on the bank and it's a peach.

This is another tough bank that operated from 1902 to 1930.
Even though they made it to the small sized issuing period no small notes were issued.
They issued red seals and blue seals only. Happily I own one of the three notes known on the bank.

This is an interesting bank that started off as the First National Bank of Soldier, Idaho.
The FNB of Soldier operated until the OSL railroad bypassed the town and built a depot in Fairfield two miles down the road.
The FNB of Soldier was renamed to the FNB of Fairfield. Alltogether the bank lasted from 1912 to 1920.
The small bank issued only large blue seals one of which is known today with the Soldier title.
A note on this bank would be a fantastic discovery and I would love to see it happen

A tiny bank which operated from 1918 to 1925 when it's circulation was assumed by the FNB of Blackfoot.
This bank issued only 1902 blue seal plainbacks and less than 3000 sheets.
This is a tough bank with only one known at present.

This bank lasted a mere 13 months between 1892 and 1893.
Due to the banks short life and the small communities modest currency needs only 236 sheets were printed.
The bank is currently unknown but if a note were to show up it would be pretty exciting.

From 1912 to 1935 this towns longevity belies it's rarity.
With an issued of less than 2000 sheets notes are uncommon at best.
I would really love a note from here.
I have good memories of driving through Hagerman with my grandfather who was fascinated by the geography of the area.
The bank still stands in the community with the vault intact. It's now a museum.

An oddity, this bank lasted about 5 months during 1901.
The bank was issued 125 sheets of 1882 brownbacks but they were never issued it seems.
To me this is tragic because it means there is no chance to have a brownback on my hometown.

For seven years between 1892 and 1899 this bank issued only $50 and $100 1882 brownbacks.
A note on this bank would be a great rarity. There are only 20 brownbacks on state and none are $50 or $100's
There is a rumor of a note on this bank in the Pacific Northwest but it hasn't been seen since the initial report.

In business for six years between 1884 and 1890 all notes on this bank are territorial.
There is only one note known on the bank and it's sitting in the ANA museum, locked up forever.
This is a dream note for any collector of Idaho nationals.

When my grandfather was a teenager he'd hitch into Shoshone from Hailey to go to the dentist.
It used to be a big Sheep depot because of the railroad.
Today the main street doesn't look too much different than it did 70 years ago.

This bank only lasted a few years before the entire town of Soldier packed up and moved two miles down
the road to Fairfield because that is where the railroad chose to use as a depot.
This bank has one of the greatest bank names possible.
